Steve the Duck

How are you all? We’ve had back to back illnesses in our house for months now… so I’ve been prioritising rest wherever possible and very much enjoying crocheting a duck for little’un.

I’ve called him Steve because Beardie calls all male ducks Steve ad female ducks Martha (no idea why!).

The pattern is from Animal Friends of Pica Pau 2. I made Murray the Sea Otter from the first book and he’s already well loved so I thought I’d make him a friend.

I used scraps of Rowan Summerlite dk and Cotton Glace for the beak and feet. I thought I was short on the yellow so I made the legs and feet shorter… then found another part ball as soon as I’d finished!

He was so much fun to crochet! I did tapestry-crochet for the fist time on the hat. It’s not perfect, but it was nice to do something new and I’m so chuffed with him!

I can’t decide whether to sew the hat on or not. I’m sure it’ll constantly be pulled off, but the pom pom will probably get destroyed so it’ll be good for that to be easily replaceable. And I could make him a selection off hats for different occasions!
