Memory Lane

I’ve spent this week archiving images from my old and retired blog (which started in 2014) and it’s been a lovely trip down memory lane!

I particularly enjoyed seeing how much my gardens have changed since 2014! I thought you might like to see the difference and hopefully you’ll indulge me and enjoy seeing my garden grow here on my Journal in the future… when it’s warm enough to get going!

This is my front garden where I grow fruit & veg…

It’s pretty different in the last couple of images and it’s definitely been a more productive space since I added the frames to divide up the space and allow for easier crop rotation.

And this is our more private back yard where I love to sit and read or knit…

I’m really happy with the structure of both gardens now so it’s just a matter of maintaining them and enjoying them!

The first ever blog I wrote made me laugh because it was about my newly decorated living room… and seven years later I’ve just finished re-decorating again - I honestly didn’t think it had been that long!

I’ve painted two full walls green and on the other two I painted the bottom half green (Little Greene, Mid Azure Green) and the top half the same colour as the ceiling (Farrow & Ball Ammonite).

It’s a pretty small, dark room and the front door opens directly into it - so it’s also sort of a corridor. The lighter ceiling and half-walls make the room feel brighter when you come in from outside, but when you’re on the sofa and facing the darker walls it feels super cosy!

I love the green and our beautiful Alan McPherson paintings look great against it… but I won’t be using paint from Little Greene again. I wrote a ranty paragraph about why not and then deleted it because you don’t need all the details! The main issue is that I’ve done seven coats (seven!!) on the woodwork and there are still areas where it’s not covered well.

I still need to make curtains and we’re also waiting on a new floor lamp… but I’m so relieved to have finished painting so that we can move back in and enjoy the room!
