Feather & Leaf Wall Hanging

I’ve really been enjoying doing some different crafts recently… including this macrame wall hanging!

I followed this tutorial but used stash yarn instead of cotton and didn’t use a felt backing. I’m sure macrame cotton would work much better, but I do love the mixture of colours and textures in my wall hanging!

The roving type yarns (Rowan Cocoon and Creative Focus Worsted) held the shape well and made lovely fluffy leaves. Rowan Pure Wool Worsted and Alpaca Classic worked okay but are a bit light and floaty. All Seasons Cotton is a bit heavy and floppy so I cut those ones into thinner more feather-like shapes.

I unravelled each strand of yarn before combing and cutting the feathers/leaves to shape. I hope they don’t flop too much! Someone kindly commented on a previous journal post suggesting hairspray might help them keep their shape. It’s really helped - thanks Sandra!
