Burnt Top
I finally finished making my cropped black top! The pattern is Burnt by Kim Hargreaves from Indigo. The book is now out of print, but you might be able to find it online - and you can see more images of Burnt on Ravelry here.
It’s knitted in Rowan Cotton Glace, and I won’t lie - it wasn’t that enjoyable to knit… using black yarn has definitely made me aware that I need to go to the opticians! So I’ve been knitting small amounts in between other knits - hence finishing a summer top in the depths of winter.
This is the second Burnt top I’ve made because I really like the fit. I originally made a longer one (as per the pattern) with alterations to make it wider across the hips.
I loved it, but didn’t wear it much because it felt bulky when tucked into skirts - so I decided to chop off the bottom part and make it cropped!
I immediately wore it more and it feels really comfortable with high waisted skirts. For the black version I simply cast on the number of stitches you would need after the hip to waist shaping and skipped the bottom section of the pattern.
The length is perfect and I’m ready for Spring now please!
I’m also showing off my new earrings in these pics - a Christmas gift to myself from Kay Morgan (love them!)
