Murray the Otter
I bought the Animal Friends of Pica Pau book ages ago to work on my crochet skills whilst making super cute animals!
I absolutely love all of the patterns and I couldn’t decide where to start! I had some oddments of cotton to use up so that helped me to narrow it down because I had the perfect mocha shade for Murray Sea Otter.
I’ve mostly only done blankets in crochet and don’t have much experience in working from crochet patterns, so I’m chuffed with how he turned out. He’s a little bit wonky because I managed to accidentally decrease two stitches on the body… but overall he’s pretty cute!
It’s a great book if (like me) you know how to do basic crochet, but want to stretch yourself a bit. There are clear visual guides at the beginning for all the stitches and techniques used.
I love how he stands up by leaning on his chunky tail! He looks super cute sitting on a little shelf.
He was great fun to crochet and I was definitely in the mood to make something small and quick. I suppose I should get back to my bigger projects and stop procrastinating with Beardie’s cardie… or maybe Murray needs a rhino friend?!
