Indoor Gardening

I’ve got a big birthday coming up soon and Beardie has very kindly bought me the James Wong Guide to Indoor Gardening course as an early present! I’m really excited to learn all about Terrariums, Aquascaping, growing on rock and lots more.

I love following James on Intsagram, where he shares lots of tips and tricks alongside gorgeous images of his indoor gardens…

I’m really excited to get stuck in - but I also really want to savour the course and spread the fun. It’s good to have something to look forward to at the moment so I’m rationing it out and have only watched the introduction and the first section on ‘light’ so far. I already feel like I’ve learned a lot!

The light section was particularly interesting for me because a lack of space near sunny south facing windows has definitely been a factor in many succulent deaths!

When Beardie brought all his lovely office succulents home last March, I set up a little table by our sunniest window and two of them are thriving.

There was a third succulent which was looking very happy and even started to have baby succulents…

But unfortunately it died. I tried to rescue the babies, but one has shriveled up and the other isn’t looking too happy. Our dark cold house definitely isn’t the best environment for succulents so I’m pleased that two out of three are happy!

It’s been lovely to have some warmer and drier weather here this week… but we’re still a while off summer gardening, so I’m really looking forward to working my way through the rest of the course and creating more green spaces indoors.
