Beardie’s Cardigan

Beardie and I have been together for 8 years in January… and I decided that 2021 would be the year I finally knit him a garment!

It’s not that I’ve previously felt he’s unknitworthy… but he isn’t a big wearer of jumpers so it’s taken us a while to work out what he would get plenty of wear out of.

After looking at many pictures of jumpers - we decided that a cardigan would be better!

Outside of work Beardie mostly wears t-shirts with a hoodie over the top… or a denim shirt if he’s feeling fancy. I think a cardigan over a t-shirt will feel more ‘him’ but will be a bit smarter and warmer than a hoodie.

We settled on Slade by Brooklyn Tweed, which has a lovely cosy shawl collar.

Beardie bought Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted (from Laughing Hens) in Granite which has a nice bit of texture to the colour and will go with everything.

It would have been the perfect cardigan for working from home and doing lots of video calls in our cold house this year! But I’m sure it will still be a handy wardrobe staple post-pandemic… even if it just becomes his cosy house-cardie!
